I have previously stated in this blog that the recommendation by the USPSTF to not screen for prostate cancer with PSA was incorrect and that I disagreed with it totally.
Here is an example of what could happen if we stopped screening for prostate cancer.
Over 20 years ago, when I was a resident, we had many patients who presented for the first time with metastatic prostate cancer. With PSA screening, we have eliminated these cases.
We must not go backwards in time.
