We understand that many patients do not want, nor need surgery.  The providers at Modern Urology will approach our patient’s urologic problems with conservative treatment options before recommending surgical procedures, as appropriate.

Modern Urology offers the most advanced evaluation and treatment options.  From using the highest quality diagnostic equipment to offering nitrous oxide for anxious patients, we provide superior urologic care in a relaxed pleasant environment.

Dr. Fronczak performs a NO SCALPEL, NO NEEDLE VASECTOMY in her clinic using a specialised technique that, according to the American Urological Association, boasts the lowest failure rate.

A vasectomy is a safe and highly effective option for family planning.

For men who have decided they do not want children or have chosen not to expand their family further, a vasectomy in Longmont, CO offers a permanent birth control solution with an effectiveness rate exceeding 99%. Additionally, it serves as a more cost-effective and lower-risk alternative to female tubal ligation.

Undergoing a vasectomy does not impact sexual performance, the volume of ejaculate, libido, or erections in any way.

At Modern Urology Colorado, Dr. Fronczak employs a “Triple Hit” technique on each vas deferens (men have two—one for each testicle).

This “Triple Hit” approach involves snipping, blocking, and burying the vas deferens, ensuring a highly effective outcome. She will discuss this method in detail during your appointment.

Local anaesthesia provides excellent pain management for the procedure, though nitrous oxide is also available as an additional option. If you’re considering a vasectomy in Longmont, CO, this approach guarantees a safe, efficient procedure with minimal discomfort.

No special preparation is required before the procedure, and shaving is not advised. Shaving can create tiny, often invisible cuts in the skin, increasing the risk of infection by allowing bacteria to enter these micro-abrasions.

Avoid taking blood thinners for at least seven days before your procedure – refer to our page on anticoagulation and antiplatelets for more details.

  • If you are on prescription blood thinners or aspirin, consult Dr. Fronczak before discontinuing use.
  • Refrain from taking blood-thinning supplements for seven days prior to your vasectomy. These include:
    • Aspirin
    • Ibuprofen
    • Fish oil
    • Turmeric
    • Garlic
  • The vasectomy procedure is performed in-office and typically takes 30 minutes or less.
  • You will be positioned on your back with your legs straight.
  • Your scrotum will be cleansed with betadine or an alternative solution if you have a betadine allergy.
  • Each vas deferens is identified, and lidocaine is administered using a specialised device, eliminating the need for traditional needle injections.
  • A small opening is made in the skin, allowing access to the vas deferens. A segment of each vas is removed, and the ends are sealed using cautery. To further minimise the risk of failure, the ends are positioned separately within the tissue.
  • The small skin opening heals naturally and does not require sutures.

Post vasectomy instructions

  • Refrain from strenuous activity, heavy lifting, sexual intercourse, or masturbation for at least seven days following your vasectomy.
  • Light walking is permitted and encouraged.
  • Use scrotal support and apply ice packs to the scrotum as needed (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) for the first 48 hours to alleviate discomfort.
  • Pain relief options such as Tylenol or ibuprofen can be taken as necessary.
  • After seven days, you may resume sexual activity; however, continue using birth control until your post-vasectomy semen analysis confirms the absence of viable sperm.

Post vasectomy semen sample

  • You must provide a semen sample only after completing at least 25 ejaculations over a minimum of 90 days.
  • Do not attempt to achieve 25 ejaculations in a short timeframe, as this can lead to complications such as discomfort, blood in the ejaculate, or potential failure of the vasectomy.
  • The requirement for multiple ejaculations is due to the presence of stored sperm in the seminal vesicles, which must be cleared before testing.
  • A full 90-day period is necessary to ensure all sperm have been expelled, as sperm can survive in the seminal vesicles for up to 90 days.
  • The vasectomy is deemed successful once a post-vasectomy semen analysis confirms either the absence of sperm or fewer than 100,000 non-motile sperm. Typically, a single ejaculation contains approximately 100 million sperm.
